platedaddy makes a good point--It's not just an issue or one political party or the other.  It's a state of mind, a perception of reality, a worldview.  When I get discouraged, my prayer is that truth--wherever it may found--will prevail in people's understanding and decision-making.

Thanks for the reply. Please note: Ron Paul is very, very against taxes and very, very much for shrinking our government. His nickname in the House is "Dr. No" because he votes against any legislation Congress isn't authorized by the Constitution to create -- which winds up being just about all of it. Lots of the money we make funds military operations that nobody needs in bases all over the planet, many in our allies' countries, so there is an absolutely massive part of the federal budget that can be reduced with no risk to anything except our status as global cops eating donuts.

As for how to tax, there's consensus that a national sales tax would be one of very few options for an equitable tax. Yes, it would be a heftier affair to make a purchase, but then there's incentive to economize and share & barter, isn't there? Brings power back to us, get it?

RIGHT ON. I just was reading a book of prayers by St. Nikolai Velimirovich to my children tonight. In one of them he notes that the children of the Tree of Knowledge judge by popular vote and not by their Creator. Lord have mercy!
